CAUSES — REBUILDING NEW ORLEANS
Rebuilding New Orleans in New York City with the Preservation Resource Center
In January, 2008, The Fertel Foundation helped to sponsor a Preservation Resource Center benefit at Jazz at Lincoln Center, honoring Time Warner Inc for staying on the Katrina story and raising $300,000 for rebuilding efforts in New Orleans. The Preservation Resource Center reaches out to homeowners in need to show them how to rescue their historic homes – the shotguns, Creole cottages, camelbacks, and other architectural genres that make up the unique neighborhood fabric of the city. Since Katrina, the PRC has assisted over 5,000 families in saving their homes and has directly restored many more like the Kid Ory historic shotgun you saw. The PRC has also built effective coalitions of national and international organizations, including the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Learn more...
